The Baby Lady Falcons continued their flawless performance in the UAAP 86 girls’ volleyball tournament as they kicked off the second-round competition.
Setter Fhei Sagaysay's playmaking contributed to the Lady Baby Falcons extending their unbeaten streak, sweeping the UST Junior Golden Tigresses, 25-20, 25-19, and 25-21, January 6 at the Adamson University Gym.
Adamson head coach JP Yude, though grateful for their feat, admitted that his team still needed to iron out facets of their game to maintain their streak.
“We thank the Lord for our record, and being unbeaten is something to be grateful for. However, we must continue to prepare because other teams are eager to defeat us,” he said.
“The team performed well, but there are still areas we aim to improve. Nonetheless, they executed effectively and developed their mental toughness on the court."
Yude also underscored the team's mindset, emphasizing that their focus is on one team at a time, with diligent preparation for each opponent, consistently reminding his wards to give their best and “prioritize the Lord because everything else will follow.”
The final set witnessed a closely contested battle, with both teams keeping the margin within three points until the 19-17 mark.
A combined block from Lhouriz Tuddao and Shaina Nitura later extended the San Marcelino-based squad’s lead to four points, and eventually close out the game.
The Lady Falcons will try to continue their dominance as they face De La Salle Zobel this January 11 at the same venue.
