The Lady Falcons Women’s Basketball Team concluded their UAAP 86 campaign with a victory, soaring over FEU, 71-60, this November 19 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Adamson snapped their three-game skid to end the elimination round at sixth place with a 4-10 record. This is a repeat of their standing from Season 85.

The Lady Falcons snapped a three-game losing streak to finish the elimination round with a 4-10 record in sixth place, which was identical to their standing last season but with one less win.

First-year head coach Ryan Monteclaro, though, remained upbeat on the progress of his wards, saying the season was “about getting better and buying into the system.”

Monteclaro’s efforts were evident with the steady rise of his wards like Cheska Apag and Kim Limbago, along with veterans Cris Padilla and Victoria Adeshina.

The former Soaring Falcon also mentioned that the team’s identity only flourished in the second round.

Holding a slim five-point advantage at halftime, 33-28, however, the San Marcelino team uncorked a 14-4 run capped off by back-to-back three-point hits from Kim Limbago, Elaine Etang, and Padilla to erect a 47-32 gap with less than three minutes left in the third canto.

Francine Meniano, Etang amd Victoria Adeshina then took control of the final frame, pushing the Lady Falcons’ lead to 20, 69-49, with 2:20 to go.

Padilla towed Adamson with 18 points built on six three-point baskets to go along with four steals, while Etang had 12 markers, three assists and three steals.

Cheska Apag had 10 points, six rebounds, and three assists. UAAP 85 Mythical Team member Victoria Adeshina, on the other hand, scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds

With team captain Rose Ann Dampios the only graduating student-athlete from Adamson, Monteclaro remains upbeat on their team for next season. He also admitted that he had been playing Dampios with a partial ACL tear.

“We have 15 eligible players for next year. We have some players on team B... First time nagkaroon ng surplus ng players sa women’s namin. It’s gonna be a healthy competition in a way,” he said.

“Hopefully, we can land some special recruits to help us also.”
