The Lady Falcons went toe-to-toe with final four contenders UST but dropped the ball in the endgame, 70-76, in the UAAP 86 Women’s Basketball Tournament held November 12 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Adamson kept pace with the Tigresses early in the game, even snatching the lead to end the first half, 43-38.

UST then launched a rally in the third frame led by Season 82 Rookie of the Year Kent Pastrana to cut the Lady Falcons’ lead to one, 62-61, heading to the fourth.

With the score tied at 64, AdU allowed five straight points from UST’s Tacky Tacatac to push the score to 64-69, with less than six minutes left in the game.

The San Marcelino-based squad then answered with hits from Victoria Adeshina and Cheska Apag to trim their foes’ lead to one at 68-69.

UST, though, maintained their composure and reestablished a seven-point lead with a little more than two minutes remaining.

With the loss, the Lady Falcons fell to 3-9, leaving them out of the race for this season’s Final Four.

Apag continued her excellent showing for the Ryan Monteclaro-mentored Lady Falcons and carried Adamson with 16 points, nine rebounds, and three steals, while Adeshina had 15 markers and 12 boards.

Adamson will try to score a silver lining in their campaign as they try to upset defending champions National University this November 15 at the same venue.
