The Soaring Falcons faltered late against De La Salle University and absorbed a crucial 57-69 defeat in the UAAP 86 Men’s Basketball Tournament, November 8, at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.

With the loss, Adamson fell to a 5-6 win-loss record, tying them with Ateneo de Manila at 4th to 5th place with only three games to go before the league’s playoffs begins.

Down only by four points in the end of the third frame at 50-54, the San Marcelino-based squad gave up numerous baskets from the La Salle offense to push the Archers’ lead, 55-64, with roughly five minutes remaining in the game.

OJ Ojarike and Jhon Calisay converted one free throw each to reduce the La Salle lead, 57-64, with 4:01 left but the Falcons failed to build momentum as they were limited to only seven points in the fourth quarter.

Adamson then entered a drought in the final four minutes of the game, missing eight field goal attempts, six from two and three from beyond the arc, and five shots from the charity stripe, while also committing two turnovers.

Didat Hanapi paced Adamson with 16 points while Montebon and Joem Sabandal chipped in 11 and 10 markers, respectively.

Falcons’ leading scorer Ced Manzano was limited to four points and seven rebounds in 20 minutes of playing time.

Adamsons’ next game against Ateneo de Manila University this November 12 at the same venue will be another crucial one as it will break the tie between the two teams and could be the telling point on who will secure the final spot in this season’s Final Four.
