The Lady Falcons suffered another defeat in the UAAP 86 Women’s Basketball Tournament, this time failing to sustain their lead against Ateneo de Manila University, 61-69, November 8 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Adamson established an early lead in the first frame, which they maintained until the end of the first half at 38-35.
Ateneo leaned on the hot shooting of graduating guard Jhazmin Jhoson who buoyed her team with seven conversions from three to enter the second half of the game only down by three. Joson finished with the new tournament season-high 32 points.
The Lady Falcons then failed to sustain their momentum in the third frame as the duo of leading MVP candidate Kacey Dela Rosa and ADMU foreign student athlete Sarah Makanjuola asserted will in the post and eventually sealed the game.
Adamson launched one final run in the final frame, scoring back-to-back triples to trim the deficit to three with more than two minutes left, but fell short as Ateneo went on a six-point counter run led by Dela Rosa and Makanjuola.
