Davies Paint-Adamson quickly flexed their muscles in the Spikers’ Turf Invitational Conference, sweeping Philippine Coast Guard, 25-19, 25-22, 25-14, October 21, at the Paco Arena.
With the win, the Falcons took the early lead in Pool C of the tournament where they are slated with the Cignal HD Spikers, St Gerrard Construction – Benilde, Saints and Lattes Letran, Santa Rosa City Lions and PCG.
The George Pascua-mentored squad jumped their foes from the get-go, erecting an early 7-2 lead, which they extended to a 10-point gap at 22-12 in the latter part of the set, en route to a 1-0 advantage.
PCG tried to steal the second set but improved composure and timely hits from Adamson gave them the two-set advantage and eventually the game.
Falcons’ middle blocker Mark Coguimbal showed his wares, posting 14 points off seven attacks and seven blocks. Francis Casas had 11 points from nine attacks and two blocks while Marc Paulino added nine.
Rookie setter Lourenz Domingo, coming from the Baby Falcons program, controlled the Adamson offense with 16 excellent sets.
Adamson will next face Santa Rosa City when competitions resume this November 5.
