OUR features camaraderie amid competition in return of Presidential Football Cup

Sports excellence and camaraderie was in full display at the SV Covered Court as six teams battled it out to be called champions of the Presidential Football Cup 2023 held October 18.  

The event organized by the Office for University Relations and its Director Sr. Maruja Padre Juan, MSCS featured participants with different nationalities and backgrounds but have similar goals in joining – fun and friendship among the community. 

As Vice President for Academic Affairs Fr. Rock Joseph Enriquez said during the opening of the program, “Aside from winning and showing our skills, it's about making more friends that we are in this competition.”  

Vice President for Student Affairs echoed the same message, adding that it was an excellent way of being together as one community in the University. 

Other administrators present in the sent event were Physical Facilities and General Services Office Director Engr. Virgilio Leoncio Lomotan and Human Resource Management and Development Office DIrector Mr. Richmond Yap. 

The said event had team Birch Victory, mostly composed of Chinese students from the Graduate School took home the gold medal, while A-Team, a team of alumni international students landed the silver medal.  

Bunal FC, an all-Filipino team, bagged the bronze medal.  

The individual awards, meanwhile, are as follows: 
 
Most Valuable Player: Peng Sun (Birch Victory) 
Golden Boot: Jams Paul Ramos (Bunal FC) 
Golden Glove: Xing Niu (Birch Victory) 

Best Midfielder: Peng Sun (Birch Victory) 

Best Defender: Bethesda Owuama-njoku (A-Team) 

Best Team Uniform: Phoenix
