It was an apparent case of first game jitters as the Soaring Falcons bow to Season 85 runners up, University of the Philippines, 51-65, in their opening game of the UAAP 86 Men’s Basketball Tournament held September 30 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Adamson was able to keep up with the phase of the stacked UP team in the first half but was eventually overpowered in the third and fourth cantos with the eruption of returning Fighting Maroon CJ Cansino, and reigning MVP Maodo Diouf.
Matthew Montebon carried the scoring load for the San Marcelino-based crew, tallying 13 points for the Soaring Falcons in their losing effort. Didat Hanapi added 11 points, while Joem Sabandal and Ced Manzano had eight apiece.
Adamson aims to bounce back against the University of Santo Tomas this October 4 in the same venue.
