A slow start for the Lady Falcons led to an opening day defeat in the hands of University of the Philippines, 61-92, in the UAAP Season 86 Women's Basketball Tournament held September 30 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Adamson held an 8-4 advantage early in the opening salvo but was quickly erased as the Fighting Maroons found their rhythm.

The Diliman-based squad unleased a 27-9 run to erect a 14-point gap to end the first quarter, 31-17. The lead even ballooned to 35 with the score at 88-53 with just less than six minutes left in the game.
