The University’s technology innovation arm resumed its efforts in promoting technopreneurship among budding innovators, this time paving way to a seminar-series focused on different industry trends in different fields of technology.

AdU’s Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO), through its Technology Transfer arm (AdUTX), and in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry-Board of Investments (DTI-BOI), hosted the first session of Leap to Drift June 30 at the Co Po Ty Hall of the Dr. Carlos Tiu Center for Technology Innovation and Research.

Discussions highlighted Information Technology and Business Process Management (IT-BPM), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and similar forms of electronics.

Opening remarks from DTI-BOI Executive Director Ma. Corazon Halili-Dichosa kickstarted the event and was quickly followed by the plenary proper.

Zoe Diaz De Rivera, Talent Attraction Industry-Academe Linkages Lead of IT Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) talked about the current and potential future status of the country’s IT-BPM industry, as well as the possible careers and development trainings under it.

De Rivera also presented a six-year blueprint aiming to have the industry grow in available jobs and revenues, transform it into a high-skill work and create impact on a more holistic sense.

Meanwhile, Analytics and Artificial Intelligence Association of the Philippines Executive Director Sherwin Pelayo delivered a lecture revolving on AI.

Using one of the more famous AI software, ChatGPT, Pelayo showed the “power” of AI, while discussing its status – its landscape, support system, its role in digital transformation, challenges and opportunities and its potential future in the country. He also presented possible roadmaps and strategies, as well as skills framework, regarding the said topic.

The last plenary for the day featured Engr. June Rose Duazo, Industry Analyst of the Semiconductor and Electronic Industries in the Philippines Foundation, Inc. (SEIPI) delving into trends in the electronics industry.

Talking about her organization’s case, Engr. Duazo followed similar talking points as her two co-speakers, looking into the present and future of their respective industries, including emerging technologies. She also presented collaborations, partnerships and significant activities within their field.

Each talk also had question and answer portions where participants can ask the speakers for clarifications regarding their respective topics.
