AdU photog org ties up with CAO, OIA for inter-school competition, Univ gallery exhibit

Photos by various budding photographers from different universities adorned the University Gallery as Silip Lente, in partnership with the Cultural Affairs Office (CAO) and Office for Institutional Advancement (OIA), held Deep Focus 2023, a photography forum and competition, last May 11.
“[This event] paves the way for our talented student photographers to soar to greater heights, giving them with a nurturing environment to express their creativity and enrich their boundless potential,” CAO Director Ms. Catherine Cequena said as she welcomed guest and participants during the exhibit.
“Let Deep Focus 2023 be a testament to your relentless pursuit for excellence, unyielding dedication and your unwavering belief in the transformative power of art,” she continued.
Ms. Cequena also assured that there will be more similar events for the community.
“The CAO stands committed to nurturing and fostering the rich tapestry of culture and arts within the university [so] we will continue to provide avenues for exploration, growth and collaboration ensuring that our student photographers and artists from all disciplines of creativity have the opportunity to shine,” she said.
Exinanio by Vian Clinch Leybag bagged the top prize of the competition followed by Empowered: Embracing your sexuality with confidence by John Christian Ocmer and Wipe your insecurities by Elaiza Ashley Tumale. The top 3 winners were all from AdU.
The forum, meanwhile, focused on the trade of photography, its artistic endeavors and the industry. The featured speakers were former OIA Coordinator Adrian Castillo, Fashion Photographer Gail Geriane, freelance photographer Lyndon Kyle Asuncion and long-time University Photographer Mar Bustamante.
