Falcons’ goalkeeper Zaccheus Suarez made vital saves to lead Adamson to a 0-0 draw against Far Eastern University in the UAAP Season 85 Men's Football tournament on March 26 at the UP Diliman Football Field.
Suarez made crucial game-saving stops of goal attempts from FEU's Stephen Soria and Gio Pabualan deep in the second half to preserve his team's share of the points.
The San Marcelino-based team also had a chance to score a winning goal with 20 minutes left in the match, but Carl Franz Mahinay’s potential dagger shot hit the crossbar.
"Trust in the players, trust in the coaches," first-year head coach Jeffrey Orada said. “"I can see their desire to win. If not for that, we would have been buried."
Orada took over after Adamson and Joplong Brillantes parted ways.
It was all hard work for the blue and white, which may also have swung their luck as Geri Rey failed to convert on a free kick in the first half.
With the victory that earned them their maiden point in UAAP 85, coach Orada had nothing but gratitude for his boys and optimism of greener pastures in the future.
"Thank you, even though we didn't get the win, we're still grateful to the Lord for giving us one point," Orada added. "Maybe this will be the basis for the team to improve."
