The University featured two simultaneous conferences in campus, hosting the 7th Regional Conference on Campus Sustainability (7RCCS) and 8th Engineering Research Congress (8ERC) at the Dr. Carlos Tiu Center for Technology Innovation and Research Building’s Co Po Ty Audio Visual Hall from March 22 to 24.

Among the event are the Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and the National Institute of Technology -- Fukushima College (NITFC). The 7RCCS, meanwhile, was initially scheduled for March 2020 and was co-organized by the Department of Science and Technology-National Capital Region.

Following the theme, “Campus Sustainability and Green Technologies: Innovation, Challenges, and Prospects Under the New Normal,” the forum attended by students and practitioners alike held talks and discussions delivered by the field’s experts and scholars.

Dr. Awangku Hassanal Bahar Pengiran Bagul of UMS and Mr. Osamu Yamashita, NITFC President, shared their respective institutions’ efforts in pushing for environmental sustainability and sustainable development.

UMS is recognized as an EcoCampus and is ranked 53rd in the 2022 Global UI Green Metric, while NITFC has been seen as a regional activity center for education for sustainable development.

Studies by students and faculty members from the host and participating schools were also presented throughout the three-da installment of the conference.

The event also housed the official launching of the Philippine Network of Sustainable Campus (PNSC), headed by Center of Research and Development Executive Director Dr. Nuna Almanzor. The declaration on campus sustainability and development between AdU, UMS, and NITFC was also signed.
