Adamson’s women’s volleyball team wrapped up the first round of the UAAP Women’s Volleyball tournament on a winning note after sweeping the University of the Philippines, 25-18, 25-17, 25-23, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, March 22.

It was a quick first set for the Lady Falcons as they instantly dominated their foes with their blocking before Alyssa Bertolano led a mini-run to arrest AdU’s scoring streak.

The third set saw a tighter contest after Head Coach Jerry Yee utilized his subtitutes before bringing back his main gunners to close out the game.

Adamson led 23-22 when UP’s Steph Bustrillo committed an error to put the Lady Falcons at match point. Although she made up for it with a last gasp for her team, Kate Santiago eventually shut the doors to the Diliman squad with an off-the-block attack.

"After the first round, we did our job. We were able to get the games that we needed to win. I think our placing is okay," Yee said.

Adamson is now tied for second and third place with the University of Santo Tomas, with 5-2 win-loss records.

Santiago paced the Lady Falcons with 16 points built on 12 attacks, three blocks, and a service ace.

Louie Romero dished out 18 excellent sets, utilizing all 14 players on the team.

Trisha Tubu contributed seven points, Lorene Toring dropped six, and Lucille Almonte and Rizza Cruz each scored five.

The ladies begin their second round campaign this March 25 against UST.
