The University’s baseball team is back on track as they overwhelmed Ateneo de Manila University, 15-3, in seven innings in the UAAP 85 Baseball tournament held this March 22 at the UP Diliman Baseball Field.

It was a big confidence boost for the Falcon batters after a deflating 6-9 defeat against De La Salle University. With the win, Adamson tied Ateneo for third place with similar 2-2 cards.

With only a run entering the third inning, Coach Orlando Binarao’s crew batted in 10 runs, highlighted by two runs from Matanguihan and Steven Manaig

Ateneo starting pitcher Ethan Mitschiener received six hits on the seven batters he faced at the plate, punctuated by Matanguihan scoring Bryan Castillo off a triple to right-center before going home himself with Manaig on the batter’s box.

Angelo Pelingo then sent the ball flying to the same zone to send Richard Matic home for a 6-0 lead, which then forced the Blue Eaglesto replace Mitschiener with Emilio Perez.

Perez and Matthew San Juan only allowed four more runs, with San Juan eventually retiring Kent Matanguihan and Matic to end the third inning.

"Sa last two games namin, ito 'yung hinahanap ko na laro sa mga boys. Kaya lang ngayon lang lumabas sa Ateneo. So, kung 'yun ang ginawa nung last two games namin, siguro lahat ng games na 'yon panalo kami," coach Binarao said.

Raymond Nerosa finished with a perfect 4-of-4 at-bat to lead the San Marcelino-based team, while, Manaig finished with three hits, all doubles, on five at-bats and scored four of Adamson's 15 runs.

Adamson starting pitcher Manuel Medrana rebounded from an off game, allowing Ateneo to just three runs in three hits.
