The Lady Falcons did not let the momentum of their foes get the best of them as they brought down the University of Santo Tomas via a 25-15, 25-17, 25-19 drubbing in the UAAP 85 Women's Volleyball tournament, March 8 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Lefties Kate Santiago and Trisha Tubu paced Adamson with 13 points apiece against the Tigresses, who appeared to still be on a high from a five-set upset against reigning champion National University last March 4.
Rizza Cruz added 10 points punctuated by four blocks, while Lucille Almonte tallied 10 markers laced with two service aces.
"Work lang, kumbaga [kahit] UST, NU, or UE [ang kalaban] laro lang kami. Execute lang kami ng kailangan naming gawin," head coach Jerry Yee said of the team’s in-game approach.
With the win, Adamson improved their record to 3-1, which put them solo second in the tournament, just below undefeated De La Salle University.
No one reached double digits for the Tigresses who are also playing without middle blocker Milena Alessandrini who suffered an ankle sprain against National University.
Eya Laura tried to salvage a set for her team in the third frame but an 11-2 barrage from the troika of Santiago, Cruz, and Tubu slammed the door on the Espana squad.
The Lady Falcons will try to extend their winning streak to three as they go against the struggling Ateneo Blue Eagles this Saturday.
