An upset loss just made the Lady Falcon batters’ drive for victory stronger as they vented their ire on perennial powerhouse University of Santo Tomas, 7-0, February 28 at the UP Diliman Baseball Field.
Adamson fell to a shock defeat against the University of the Philippines last February 26 in an 11-inning test of endurance.
Lady Falcons Head Coach Ana Santiago saw the loss as heartbreak, but it was also a good experience for the team.
"Talagang yung game namin nung nakaraan, although it was a good game and it was the first time in my coaching career na 11 innings," she said.
"It was good for the sport but sa side namin, heartbreaking loss siya. Ang goal namin is to be in the finals, hindi naman ma-sweep."
Rookie Remilie Herrero initiated a five-run, five-hits assault for the Lady Falcons, along with base appearances from Jenette Rusia, Mae Langga, Alaiza Talisik, and Aiza Pichon.
A Rusia grounder then paved the way for a Krisha Cantor run that sealed the mercy win in the sixth inning.
"Before this game, nag-prepare kami, nag-training kami, at lahat ng adjustment na puwede namin gawin, ginawa namin. Alam namin na kung gaano kaimportante itong game na ito sa amin. Alam rin ng mga bata ang kahalagahan nito. This is one of our best games of the season," said Santiago.
Glory Alonzo registered another spectacular pitching performance for Adamson, allowing just one hit with three strikeouts.
