It was as if they did not miss a beat.
Online and in-person methods of competition did not matter as the Senior High School Department (SHS) secured back-to-back titles in the Canticle Chorale fest after ruling this year’s installment held February 16 at the University Theater.
SHS also bagged the 2022 competition held online due to restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The College of Nursing, meanwhile, bagged second place, while the College of Law, which made its return to Canticle since 2019, landed at third. This year featured the songs Magnificat (All that I am) by David Haas and Iisang Panalangin as contest pieces.
The contest, which had the theme Together We Sing Mary’s Fiat, featured eight participants from the different academic departments of the University, namely SHS and the Colleges of Pharmacy, Engineering, Law, Science, Business Administration, Education and Liberal Arts, and Nursing.
Soprano and Philippine Madrigal Singers alum Bernadette Mamauag and singers Lester Delgado and Dada De Pano Supnet served as this year’s judges. Fr. Libin Varghese, CM, University Chaplain, Ms. Catherine Cequena, Cultural Affairs Office Director presented the awards along with the said jurors.
The CMO also officially turned over Canticle’s donation to the Ladies of Charity represented by Center for Research and Development Director Dr. Nuna Almanzor and Continuing Professional Development Director Mrs. Raquel Bermudez.
The Campus Ministry Ensemble also sang their renditions of classic and modern songs.
