OUR re-launches Taste of the World after three-year pandemic halt

The Office for University Relations’ famed Taste of the World event is back on campus after the pandemic halted in-person campus activities for two years. 

Diplomatic corps from different embassies and international students took the spotlight in a food adventure around the world as part of the celebration of the University’s 91st Founding Anniversary, February 15 at the ST Quadrangle. 

Fr. Marcelo V. Manimtim, CM, along with the international dignitaries and University administrators led the ribbon cutting ceremonies to formally open the festivities. 

H.E. Ambassador F. M. Borhan Uddin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary for the Embassy of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and H.E Ambassador Agus Widjojo, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary for the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia graced the event with their presence. 

Mrs. Chioma Aisha Okorie-Haidara, Minister Counsellor/Head of Chancery for the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Morteza Sabouri, Cultural Counselor for the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Kannan Chockalingam, First Secretary for Press, Information, Culture & Education for the Embassy of the Republic of India and Mr. Tony Lee, Director for the Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) were also present on the momentous occasion. Each representative received their respective Certificates of Appreciation. 

This year's Taste of the World featured cuisines from Iran, India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Nigeria, Vietnam, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, Rwanda, Congo, China, Timor-Leste, Liberia, Eritrea, Jordan and Saudi Arabia. Filipino products were also offered. 

A fashion show featuring the native dresses of Indonesia was also performed by the embassy’s Dharma Wanita Persatuan group, along with the traditional Gemu Famire dance. A short quiz about Indonesia was also held for the audience. 

The Adamson University Band also kept the community entertained as the delivered a medley of Queen classic songs to kick-off the event.

Daniel Franklin Pilario, CM, CRD Executive Director Dr. Nuna Almanzor, Institutional Development and External Affairs Director Dr. Pamela Mantuhac, Admissions and Student Recruitment Office Director Mr. Richmond Yap, Office for University Relations Director Sr. Maruja Padre Juan, MSCS, Cultural Affairs Office Director Ms. Catherine Cequena, University Information Security Office Director Mr. Edward Bustillos and Guidance, Library Services Director Judylyn Bundoc, and Counselling, Testing and Placement Services Dr. Celso Mangaoil.
