Adamson’s Girls Volleyball team looks like they did not miss a beat despite a three-year lay-off brought by the pandemic.
The Baby Lady Falcons disposed Far Eastern University – Diliman in straight sets, 27-25, 25-20, 25-17 in the opening day of the UAAP 85 Juniors Volleyball Tournament at the Paco Arena, February 13.
The UAAP 82 runners-up experienced early jitters, which prompted newly minted head coach JP Yude to call out his wards.
“Sabi ko kung kaya ang kalaban, ‘wag tayo magrelax. Kailangan sila ang sumabay sa tempo natin, hindi tayo ang sasabay sa kanila,” he said.
“Hindi dahilan na first game kaya pangit ang galaw. I told them, push natin sarili natin; kung lamang tayo, dikdikin natin ang kalaban.”
The youthful mentor also lauded the discipline his team bannered by libero Juris Manuel, setter Ghail Cuenca and outside hitters Shaina Nitura and Red Bascon showed.
“Sa ngayon, siguro nasa 80% pa lang sila and umaasa tayo na tumaas pa ang laro nila,” he said.
The Baby Lady Falcons are set to face University of Santo Tomas immediately in the first game of the next day, February 14, one of five matches they are pitted in the nine-day first round of the tourney.
