Cedrick Manzano showed flashes of the potential that brought him to San Marcelino as he helped the Soaring Falcons to dispatch Mapua University, 85, 69, in the 2022 Filoil EcoOil Preseason Cup, August 7 at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.

The former Hua Siong College of Iloilo Red Phoenix posted a 26 points, 12 rebounds and five rejections and led Adamson to a bounce-back victory after a disappointing defeat against National Univeristy last timeout.

Adamson also upped their record to four wins against one loss to be one of the leaders in the league’s Group A.

However, despite his ward’s breakout performance, Coach Nash Racela remained adamant about his boys’ commitment.

"Cedrick learned his lesson. Kasi, after the [UAAP] season, we gave them a one-month break and he enjoyed, siguro, too much," he said of Manzano, who was also mentioned to be out of shape when trainings resumed.

“The challenge really for the team is how to fast track ‘yung improvement. Hindi madali, especially we rotate a lot of players,” the second-year mentor also quipped. “Pero small progress is still progress, so, sa amin it’s a welcome development. As long as we see them improve day-to-day, we’ll be okay I think.”

Jerom Lastimosa tallied 15 markers, two caroms and three dimes while rookie Ray Allen Torres posted five rebounds and three assists.

The Soaring Falcons will next face Emilio Aguinaldo College this August 11.
