Lastimosa leads Falcons over Perpetual in Filoil Cup

The Soaring Falcons continue their solid run in Group A of the 2022 Filoil Ecooil Preseason Cup, downing the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA, 68-61, this August 3 at the the Filoil EcoOil Center in San Juan.

Jerom Lastimosa finally broke out of his slump, scoring 18 markers to lead Adamson to a 3-0 card. The Dumaguete native averaged just 8.5 points prior to the game.

The San Marcelino-based crew was leading by 17 points in the final canto, 65-61, but a triple by Lastimosa with 13 seconds left sealed the deal for the blue and white.

“We told our team during half that Perpetual is a good team to play in the preseason because they play tough and they have [a mature team],” Coach Nash Racela said. “[We should] take advantage of [the] opportunity na makalaro sila.”

Support artillery was also on for the Falcons as Vince Magbuhos posted 10 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals while Matty Erolon also provided 10 markers, five boards, two assists and two steals.

Adamson will next face the NU Bulldogs on August 5.
