AdU hosts first networking event

The Adamson Technology Transfer Office (AduTX), together with the Adamson Neo Science and Technology Incubation Center (AdUNESTINC), the Adamson Innovation and Technology Support Office, the Department of Science and Technology and the Board of Investments (BOI) held its first ever networking event titled “Talk-N-Tech” last November 26, 2021.

The event carried the with theme “Connect. Collaborate. Create,” showcasing the program’s aim to bridge available university research and technology projects with the various industry partners of various sectors for possible adoption and commercialization.

Fr. Marcelo V. Manimtim, C.M., University President, formally opened the event where he emphasized the value of the growing partnerships and collaborations in long term contribution to the technological and economic development in the country amidst today’s pandemic landscape.

The first keynote speaker of the event, Ms. Russel Pili Rch. MTM, LLM, Chief of Research and Information Technology Transfer Division and a patent agent of DOST-PCIEERD, acknowledged the efforts and milestones that the DOST-IMPACT project has accomplished, not only in the University, but that of the country. She also thanked the private sector for serving as the enablers in the commercialization of the products and services generated from these innovative ideas and researches.

The next keynote speaker was Ma. Corazon Halili-Dichosa, Executive Director of the Industry Development Services of the Philippine Board of Investments, meanwhile, highlighted the role of linkages of both the academe and the industry partners in ensuring the continued economic development through its economic complexity, interactions of both technology and economic performance indicative of diversification of the industrial sectors leading to economic growth and more opportunities for the Filipino workforce.

Engr. Raymond Raguindin, Project Manager of IMPACT Project and Technology Transfer Officer of AdUTx then introduced the different colleges and their researches to be discussed via the pitching event, namely the College of Engineering led by Dean. Evelyn Raguindin, the College of Pharmacy led by Dean Perly Crucis, and the College of Science, led by Dean Eleanor Austria.

A reverse pitching session involving the industry partners quickly followed. Discussions involved current and on-going issues and problems within their company, while also giving students and faculty the opportunity to provide innovative solutions to the given problems via networking. Companies who presented were Manly Plastics/FILPET Inc., Pascual Laboratories and Accenture.

The highlight of the Talk-N-Tech event, the technology pitching showcased various technologies from students and faculty of AdU, including the “Automated Conditioning for Mangrove Nursery”, “Claritea”, “Herbal Conditioning Shampoo for Lice and Dandruff”, “Web Portal for Parish Church Services”, “Tanood: Street Violence Detection Using Video Processing with Robotic Surveillance Camera”, “Contact Center Solutions with Ticketing System”, “Tooth Tablet: Dentrifice Containing Enzyme and Abrasive”, “Agriculturice”, and “BACONET: Soil Erosion Control” and “Multi-functional Kiosk for Academic Institutions.”

To close out the event, an awarding ceremony took place to give prizes to the winners of the event’s e-Poster making competition, which showcased research and technology projects from the University. Engr. Raymond Raguindin, once again took the stage to thank all the participants, sponsors, and industry partners in making the event possible as he formally closed the event.
