Three alumni of the Electronics Engineering Department received post-graduate scholarships in Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU), Taiwan.
Francis Alano, Christian Lian Paulo Rioflorido, and Jay Bhie Santos joined CYCU’s Intelligent System on Power Engineering Research Laboratory spearheaded by distinguished Professor, Dr. Ying-Yi
Hong of the Department of Electrical Engineering. Dr. Hong is currently the Dean of
Research Development of the said institution.
Alano and Rioflorido, who were accepted to the PhD program have research focused on
Energy transactions in networked microgrids using Blockchain digital twin and Wind power forecasting using quantum convolution neural, respectively.
Santos, meanwhile, has a study on Evolutionary algorithm based deep learning for solar irradiance forecasting for a Master in Science degree.
“I’ve never felt this satisfied as their Professor, looking at our former students going after their M.Sc. and Ph.D.’s in Engineering,” Dr. Angelo Beltran, Jr., an ECE faculty, said, expressing deep pride for his former students’ feat.
Dr. Beltran Jr. was the first Filipino Visiting Scholar in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the CYCU research laboratory in 2015.
