Carlos Yulo got his redemption.

This is after the country’s golden boy in gymnastics became the first Filipino to win multiple medals in the world championships, bagging gold in the men’s vault event and silver in the men’s parallel bars competition at the 2021 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Kitakyushu, Japan.

The AdU-BED alum topped seven other competitors with an average of 14.916. Japan’s Yonekura Hidenobu finished second with 14.866, followed by Israel's Andrey Medvedev who posted 14.649.

The 21-year old also secured a silver medal in the parallel bars event after scoring 15.300, just behind Chinese Hu Xuwei’s 15.466. China’s Shi Cong landed in third with a 15.066 average.

Caloy’s medal day came after dropping his Men’s Floor Exercise event title where he fell to fifth.

He broke into the spotlight when he captured the Philippines' first ever gold in the world championships in 2019. He also brought home a bronze medal the previous year.

Caloy, however, failed to secure a podium finish in the Tokyo Olympics, only boasting a 4th place in Vault as his best finish.

He promised then that he would come back stronger, and now, he has delivered.
