Adamson continues to build its repertoire of academic and cultural resources after receiving book donations from the Bangladesh Embassy last July 28.

Bangladesh Ambassador H.E. Asad Alam Siam led the turnover ceremonies at the Cardinal Santos Building. University President Fr. Marcelo V. Manimtim, CM and Office for University Relations Director Sr. Maruja Padre Juan, MSCS represented AdU during the said rites.

"To commemorate Mujib Year -- the birth centenary of [the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman], we are organizing a lot of programs including here in the Philippines where we have collected and will donate books about Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, in English and Bangla, as well as other books about our country," Bangladesh Embassy Foreign Service Officer Ms. Sayma Razzaki said.

"We wanted to give the books to a place where the young generation can get the knowledge from those books so we thought Adamson University would be a very good place for these donations, and also [the fact that we already have a very good relation with the institution]."

The books, according to Ms. Razzaki, include themes ranging from Bangla history and culture to Bangla Literature and other academic topics.

Mujib Year is a celebration that marks the birth centenary of the Bangla nation's founder, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the country's first President and later Prime Minister. Sheikh Mujib, as he is also called, was the driving force behind the independence of Bangladesh.

Amb. Siam, Fr. Manimtim and Sr. Maru also discussed other possible partnerships between Bangladesh and the University including student and faculty exchanges, and programs that AdU can offer to Bangla students.

"We are very glad to be part of these kinds of program. Because this marks a very good collaboration between our countries. We would love to work with Adamson University in the future."
