Administrators and faculty members from the University played vital roles in the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (PCCI) Research and Development Colloquium held online last July 8.

College of Business Administration Dean Dr. Ruben Nayve, Jr., who is also the PCCI R&D Head, organized the event that carried the theme A Multi-sectoral Benchmarking in the Post-Pandemic.

“The event was conceptualized by the PCCI, invited higher education institutions, private and government sectors as part of the morning session's "Trifocal Meet-Up with the Academe, Industry and Government".  Adamson University was invited to share its R&D policies and best practices as a private Higher Education Institution,” he explained.

“In the afternoon session was the Research & Colloquium where only 12 papers were considered for paper presentation. Among the many submitted works, a paper from Adamson University, College of Business Administration was judged as among the top entries,” the CBA Dean continued.

Dr. Nayve also lauded Marketing and Management Chair Dr. Amy Daraway, along with Dr. Michael Capina, who holds a PhD from AdU, who presented their study titled Proposed Business Diagnosis Framework as Basis for Designing Strategies for MSMEs after being chosen as Top 12 research papers of the event.

“Our research whether by students or faculty are always anchored with the University Research Agenda. CBA Faculty are encouraged to collaborate with the students, co-faculty and external researchers. The event can serve as exposure to our faculty and students in terms of paper presentation,” he furthered.

Dr. Nuna Almanzor, Director of the Center for Research and Development (CRD), was a Resource Speaker who talked about R&D in the Academe for Private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). PCCI Director for Innovation Mr. Perry Ferrer (R&D in the Industry, DOST Secretary Fortunato dela Pena (R&D in the Government), and Central Luzon State University’s Dr. Maria Excelsis Orden (R&D in the Academe for Public HEIs) round-off the session’s discussants.

Dr. Almanzor described the PCCI tilt for University administrators and faculty is a good opportunity for our University, “to be known by the members of the Chamber -- what we can offer and what possible collaboration can be done.”

The participation also helps the continuous development of research culture in AdU which has sustained its improvements following memoranda issued by CHED

“With Adamson University being autonomous in status, we saw the positive acceptance not only from the faculty and he students but also from our co-academic personnel as they embrace research to be part of their individual work activities,” Dr. Almanzor continued.

Asked how research in AdU can be further upgraded, she did not mince words and pointed out constant advancement in policies, as well as management support.

“I believe for Adamson, we need to strengthen more the policies in policies that are in place, the manpower complement of the [CRD], and to develop a flexible system for researchers reporting time and use of laboratories and facilities,” Dr. Almanzor shared.

“We envision to venture for a partnership with the industry for them to avail the expertise of Adamson technical staff in addressing the technological needs.”
