Charity is never out of style.

This saying proves true in the University as the Campus Ministry Office (CMO) has continued its soup kitchen project, giving away free lugaw and sopas to the community working onsite.

Mr. Erick Sta. Maria, the University’s Lay Campus Minister, shared the program mainly caters to Adamson’s maintenance personnel, but also spreads to other offices in-campus – an extension of the initial Soup Kitchen ni San Vicente.

“Nag-umpisa kasi yan nung nagdonate yung isa sa mga winners ng Canticle at [judges], so naisip naming na itulong na lang sa mga kapos palad [kaya] naisipan naming na magluto na lang tapos tatawagan namin ‘yung mga housekeeping, mga maintenance, tsaka security,” Mr. Sta. Maria said, pertaining to their now weekly practices jumpstarted by donations from Canticle Choralefest judges, Library Director Mrs. Judeelyn Bundoc, and Fr. Rodge Cardenas, CM.

“Parang tulong na naming sa kanila ‘yun.” he added, describing the project that began the same day of the said choir competition.

He further explained that after the initial installment of the project, the office received donations from campus administrators and employees, regularly sustaining the activity until University Chaplain Fr. Agustin Advincula, CM proposed to hold it every Tuesday.

The CMO, along with housekeeping staff, takes charge of food preparation while volunteers from other University offices manage the distribution.

The soup kitchen program has been a staple project of the CMO, and has catered to the community as inspired by countless charitable initiatives.
