AdU’s College of Architecture hosted a roundtable discussion on emergent issues in Philippine housing held last June 25.
The event held in partnership with the United Architects Association of the Philippines (UAP) Committee on Professional development, and the Professional Development Commission (PDC) was dubbed as Bahay. Buhay. Bukas., and featured three Resource Speakers under the umbrella topic Transformative Physical Development.
Architecture Dean Ar. Sylvester Shaun Seno discussed How Can Resilient Mass Housing Positively Impact Public Mindset Towards Being Productive Citizens, with Dr. Melanie Sabado-Liwag, Director of California State University-Los Angeles’ Master in Public Health program, serving as Reactor.
UP-Diliman Practice and Governance Studio Laboratory Head Ar. Dolores Madrid talked about Can Mass Housing Developments Survive Disaster Site Selection Imperatives for Disaster-Resilient Communities, while UST Architecture Faculty Member Ar. Annabelle Verdote discoursed on the ‘real score’ of Inclusive Spaces for Mass Housing Resiliency.
National Housing Authority Housing Technology Development Office Department Manager Ar. Ma. Benita Regala, and Nantes-Amador & Associates Principal Architect Ar. Pamela Nantes-Amador also functioned as Reactors, respectively.
The event also featured AdU Integrated Community Extension Services (ICES) Office Director Fr. Rowen Carlos, CM, and Cluster Leaders from community partners in Laguna, San Jose del Monte Bulacan, and Rodriguez, Rizal during the roundtable discussion.
Ar. Romeo Santos, Fullbright Scholar and Visiting Professor at Florida Atlantic University, was the event moderator.
