The University has sponsored three houses in a housing initiative program that aims to provide shelter for families in Malitbog, Southern Leyte.
Fr. Marcelo V. Manimtim, CM, University President, backed the construction of one household representing the University.
“As member of the Vincentian Family, we are just happy to help,” Fr. Manimtim said.
CM Philippines Provincial Visitor, and current Chairman of AdU’s Board of Director Fr. Gregorio Banaga, CM also sponsored another.
The program allots Php 30,000 for a ‘simple yet decent and secure house’ to be awarded to chosen beneficiaries.
The third household was funded by the Vincentian Heritage classes in the Graduate School handled by Dr. Pamela Mantuhac, the current Director of the University’s Institutional Development and External Affairs (IDEA) Office, and former head of the hibernated Office for Vincentian Identity and Mission.
Just One House is a fundraising program led by Ana Maria Escano inspired by the 13 Houses Campaign of the Famvin Homeless Alliance (FHA).
As the organizer described the program, “Just One House is aptly named because everything starts with just one house and then it can be replicated not only in the locality where I live but can also be done in other parts of the country.”
