AdU NEST, ITSO host Technopreneurship Boootcamp

The University continues to be one of the leaders in technology commercialization as AdU held the first of a series of Technopreneurship Bootcamps via Zoom last February 24.

The Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO), and Adamson University Neo Science and Technology Incubation Center (AdU NEST), in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD), jumpstarted its 15-part, 10-week bootcamp focused on equipping new leaders and practitioners of business and innovation with technical and practical skills in innovative thinking, startups, business management, latest technology trends.

“Philippine and global markets are continuously being disrupted and evolving, academic institutions should be ready to create new generations of innovators and leaders of the world. With AdU’s IP Management Program for Academic Institutions Commercializing Technologies (IMPACT), and Higher Education Readiness for Innovation and Technopreneurship (HEIRIT) projects, we are actively pursuing the improvement of our capabilities in teaching,” ITSO wrote on its social media post on the program.

Dr. Surya Raghu, Vice Chairperson of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineer (IEEE) Entrepreneurship arm, and the program’s first speaker, discussed a topic focused on Building a Technopreneurial Mindset.

Dr. Raghu is also the President of Advanced Fluidics LLC in the US, and Founder, ET Cube International. He serves as a Professor, in the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa.

Ms. Diane Dugan-Estacio, a startup enabler, and member of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Private Sector Advisory Group on Business Integrity of Youth and Entrepreneurship, meanwhile, delivered a talk on Why Technopreneurship and why it is important.

Engr. Edward Paul Apigo, Senior Science Research Specialist of DOST’s Research Information and Technology Transfer Division gave the final talk on Technopreneurship in the Government’s Perspective.

Engr. Noe Enriquez, Project Lead, HEIRIT Program, and Director of Institutional Planning and Policy Development Office (IPPDO) delivered the Closing Remarks. The event was also attended by Fr. Marcelo V. Manimtim, CM, University President, and Dr. Venusmar Quevedo, ITSO Manager and VP for Administration.

The bootcamp series will span from from Feb 24 to Apr 27 to be concluded with a Demo Day with a date which is yet to be announced.

The second session highlighting creative thinking in technopreneurship will be on March 2.
