University employees, along with the Vincentian Fathers, officially opened Lenten season with a series of Ash Wednesday masses held at the ST Quadrangle last February 17.

The Campus Ministry Office organized three masses to begin the Catholic tradition that begins 40 days before Easter, also providing services for the imposition of ashes to the mass goers.

Fr. William Azul Encelan, CM, Director of the Campus Ministry, urged employees of the University to reflect and have deeper understanding of Lent and Christ’s passion, instead of being Facebook or Instagram Catholics.

“Be charitable, not charotable,” he said, pointing out that Lent is a season of discernment.

Two other masses were held at 12NN and 3PM, celebrated by Fr. Agustin Advincula, CM, Superior of the Central House in San Marcelino, and Fr. Rowen Carlos, CM, ICES Director.
