Ar. Roberto S. Sac of AdU’s Architecture Class of 1978 reminded the graduates of the 34th Mid-year batch of the importance of college education in achieving success during commencement exercises held last February 19.
In his speech during the ceremonies, the current chairperson of the Professional Regulation Commission Board of Architecture (PRC-Arch) told the newly-minted Vincentian-Adamsonian professionals “College Education can make one’s dream come true …College education does and it did [for me]!
“Batch December 2020 graduates, your college education will make your dreams come true; your college education will transform you in many ways you have not imagined; your college education will always remind you to have faith in yourself; your college education has equipped you to exercise fortitude and that with faith and fortitude, there is nothing, you cannot do,” he said.
Remembering his path to his stature today, Ar. Sac alluded to this ceremonies’ theme, Faith, Fortitude and Foresight.
“Looking back, I can say the probinsyano architecture student had gone a long way. What I am today compared from where I was 40 years ago is partly the fruit of strong faith in the benevolence of God, in the goodness of my family, and the undying support of my community,” he said.
“What I am today is partly derived from the tons of fortitude from bountiful courage to face all odds and the bravery to take unchartered pots,” he continued. “What I am today is partly because of foresight -- the ability to see my inner strength; the ability to accept and mend my weaknesses; and my appreciation of good karma which is the willingness to pay back the goodness of others and the Lord by way of charitable works for those who are blessed in life.”
He also reflected on the impacts his decisions made, and where each choice brought him to.
“Life is truly all about making choices. Making the right choice or right decision at the right time is very important, yet no one knows whether the choice we make will be the right one,” he said.
“And so, living with the choice we made and dealing with it is more important than being right or wrong. Living life is always a risk anyway. Be mindful though that right or wrong, our choices have to be fair and just.”
Aside from his post at PRC, Ar. Sac is a Fellow of the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP), and has served as National President of the same organization for two terms. He was also instrumental in passing Republic Act 9266, or the Architecture Law of 2004.
