Adamson lands in 2021 QS Asian University Rankings

Adamson University made it to the 2021 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asian University Rankings released November 25, Wednesday, a feat it achieved for the first time.
AdU landed on the 601+ bracket with UP (69), Ateneo (135), La Salle (166), and UST (186) remaining as the top 4 universities in the country.

The QS Asia University Rankings, annually released by global higher education think tank Quacquarelli Symonds features the top academic institutions in the region every year since 2009.
CHED lauded the development as 14 universities, featuring seven newcomers, made the cut.
“Since 2016, many Philippine HEIs have gained increased exposure and visibility by attending educational fairs and international conferences, mobilizing student, and faculty exchanges, and building strategic partnerships and linkages which have contributed to the fulfillment of this wonderful achievement,” CHED Chair Prospero de Vera II said, also alluding to the contribution of internationalization in producing quality education.
The University of San Carlos (451-500), Ateneo de Davao University (501-550), Mapua University (501-550), Siliman University (501-550), Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology (551-660), Central Luzon State University (601+), Central Mindanao State University (601+), Central Philippine University (601+), and Xavier University (601+) round up the Philippine universities in the said rankings.

“The methodology used to create the ranking is similar to that used for the QS World University Rankings®, but with some additional indicators and adapted weightings. This set of criteria, developed in consultation with regional experts and stakeholders, is designed to reflect key priorities for universities in Asia, drawing on as much available data as possible,” QS wrote on its website.
The said indicators were set as Academic Reputation (30%), Employer Reputation (20%), Faculty-Student Ratio (10%), International Research Network (10%), Citations per Paper (10%), Papers per faculty (5%), Staff with PhD (5%), Proportion of international faculty (2.5%) and proportion of international students (2.5%), and Proportion of inbound exchange students (2.5%) and proportion of outbound exchange students (2.5%).
