Community adapts Vincent feast to new normal

Celebrations on the feast day of Saint Vincent de Paul has adapted to the new normal, doing ceremonies via online streaming from September 26 to 27.
This year’s festivities carrying the theme St. Vincent de Paul: Inspiration and Comfort in this Conflictual Time of the Pandemic were livestreamed on social media through the Facebook pages of Adamson U, Saint Vincent de Paul Parish, and Vincent Connects.
The Vincentian Family launched an Online Vigil last September 26 attended by Vincentian organizations (branches), communities and institutions. It featured meditations on the writings of Saint Vincent where the community reflected on his words, and works.
Fr. Marcelo V. Manimtim, CM, headed the ceremonies, and delivered an allocution on celebrating the life of Saint Vincent.
The event’s head, Fr. Rolando Limjoco, CM, explained that the vigil was done in lieu of the usual ceremonies done annually given the limitations brought by the Covid-19 pandemic.
He also mentioned the rites were a chance for the community to gather in prayer in the spirit of Saint Vincent de Paul.
Prayer leaders of the said event include the Sisters of Charity of Suwon, Daughters of Charity, Congregation of the Mission, Handmaids of Charity, Children of Mary- Vincentian Marian Youth, Ladies of Charity, Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, Asilo de San Vicente de Paul, Adamson University, Santa Isabel College, and Colegio de Santo Corazon de Jesus (Iloilo City).
US-based Vincentian institutions Niagara University, St John’s University, and De Paul University, meanwhile, contributed a feature of the life of Saint Vincent.
The Vincentian priests-residence of the Central House in San Marcelino inaugurated the Vincentian Media Center, and conducted their daily feeding program in the CS Walkway on September 27.
An image of Saint Vincent was also paraded around the parish community through a motorcade held at 3PM on the same date.
Bishop Broderick Pabillo, Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Manila, presided the concelebrated mass at 5PM.
