Adamsonians were caught off-guard when a glitch hit Adamson U’s Blackboard Learn System, delaying online classes on its first day last August 24.

But despite the mishap, the Center for Innovative Learning expressed its commitment in managing and improving online education services in the University.

“We humbly apologize to all our students who have been affected by the technical glitch.

Please be assured that our office will do its utmost best to respond to all those who experienced difficulties with the flexible learning and the platform that we are using.,” Mr. William Bill Turnbull, Jr., Director of the CIL, said in a Facebook post.

“We remain steadfast in our commitment to properly guide every faculty and student in this new normal, and to deliver affordable quality education that each student deserves.”

Turnbull also expressed his disappointment of a malicious article citing AdU’s first day of classes as ‘palpak’.

“No online distance education program is perfect. The glitch that happened this morning was not even unexpected — as with any new system, there will always be technical glitches akin to
birthing pains,” the former Mathematics and Physics Chairperson said.

“Everybody is in a state of shock caused by the pandemic forcing academic institutions to rapidly shift from the traditional type of education. Our university allotted tremendous effort
and resources, and I can say with conviction that our Flexible Learning Program will surely deliver quality education,” he added.

Blackboard Learn services were back at 1PM which marked the resumption of online classes.

In a post on their Facebook page, CIL said the service provider has put the case as its priority, and will release an official statement once investigations are concluded.
