Palencia bags innovation feat anew

Prof. Merlinda A. Palencia, PhD of the Chemical Engineering department was once again recognized as one of the country’s top innovators.
Dr. Palencia, Chief Operating Officer of the University’s spin-off company, Vigormin, was selected as one of the awardees for the Enterprise Innovators (Product Innovation) category of the first Mansmith Innovation Awards.
“In pursuit of inspiring innovations in the new normal and to support the government’s initiatives to improve the country’s global innovation ranking and to address the country’s low number of patents, Mansmith and Fielders presents its latest advocacy – The Mansmith Innovation Awards – aimed to recognize Filipino innovators, and inspire future innovators,” Mansmith and Fielders, Inc. said, announcing the pioneering awardees.
“This award is officially endorsed by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Go Negosyo, and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI).”
Awarding ceremonies have yet to be finalized due to limitations brought by the imposed community quarantine as safety measure against the CoViD-19 pandemic.
Other awardees under the same category include Rene Ledesma, Jr. (Business Model Innovation), owner and founder of food and lifestyle market Mercato Centrale, Barnaby Chong (Product Innovation), president of CHG Global Inc., Neogin Evangelista (Business Model Innovation), president of Philusa Corp., Maria Rosario Ilao (Technology Innovation), founder and CEO of digital marketing and software development company Mobile Optima, and Katrina Rausa Chan (Business Model Innovation), director and co-founder of Qbo Innovation Hub.
