Engrg, CS studes bag tech innovation award

Students from the Engineering and Computer Science departments brought pride to the University after winning this year’s Emerson Philippines’ 2nd Innovation Challenge.
The team composed of Electrical Engineering students Jay Bhie Santos, Jomar Mansilungan, Reina Louise Salanguit, and Computer Science students Angelo D. Erasmo, and Zeldrix Don along with Engr. Jasper Meynard Araña who served as faculty adviser, presented the winning prototype Project ISDA (IoT System for Dissolve Oxygen Monitoring and Analytics), a decision support tool for fish pond farmers to prevent mass fish kills.
The winners were announced after the Emerson Philippines Innovation Rally 2019 held at the Henry Sy Sr. Innovation Center in Miriam College-Quezon City.
Asia Pacific College, Bulacan State University, Mapua University, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Technological Institute of the Philippines, and University of Santo Tomas round-off the participating institutions this year.
Students were asked to develop tech innovations adhering to the program’s theme Digital Transformation, stressed the importance of empowering changemakers among today’s youth in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education.
Emerson Philippines also held a STEM Camp which featured workshops that provided supplementary information to support participants’ development of their project prototypes.
