Jerrick Ahanmisi finally got his groove back as he led the Soaring Falcons to a 91-80 victory over the University of the East (UE) Red Warriors in the UAAP Season 82 Men’s Basketball Tournament, Sept. 11, at the Araneta Coliseum.
The Fil-Nigerian gunner torched UE with 28 points with a 7 of 14 shooting from beyond the arc and led the Falcons to their first winning streak this season.
Adamson led throughout the game, fending off runs by the Red Warriors, the last coming during the last three minutes of the final canto.
Sophomore guard Jerom Lastimosa who scored clutch baskets for Adamson finished with 16 markers, 8 boards and 6 dimes while Val Chauca posted a 13-2-3 stat-line.
Last game’s hero Lenda Douanga also tallied a 11-16 point-rebound double-double.
Former CESAFI MVP Rey Suerte posted 20 points to lead the Red Warriors who missed the services of Senegalese import Adama Diakhite due to illness.
The Falcons aim to soar for their third straight win on Sept. 15 against last year’s Final Four tormentors, UP Fighting Maroons, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.
