Lenda lifts Falcons past NU in OT thriller

Lenda Douanga saved the Soaring Falcons as the new foreign reinforcement buried a buzzer-beating triple to salvage tover the National University Bulldogs, 84-83, in the UAAP Season 82 Men’s Basketball tournament held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum last September 7.
The Congolese slotman banged a booming three with less than one second remaining, cancelling an impending win for the Bulldogs who were ahead, 83-81, with 1.4 ticks left.
“It was a designed play, I told him everyone will be guarded so he has to take the three,” said Adamson coach Franz Pumaren.
Douanga’s heroics followed suit after he sinked a put-back which led the game to go into overtime.
He anchored the Adamson offense with 26 points, 19 rebounds, and one block.
Team captain Simon Camacho posted a 14-11 point-rebound double-double while Val Chauca had 13 markers.
Main gunners Jerrick Ahanmisi and Jerom Lastimosa also began to pick up their old forms after tallying a combined 20 points and 10 rebounds.
The Falcons aim for back-to-back wins when the go up against the University of the East (UE) Red Warriors on September 11 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
