The future looks bright for the Adamson University Lady Falcons after a team composed mainly of rookies scored the team’s first victory in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) – Collegiate Conference via a straight-set victory against NCAA powerhouse San Beda University Lady Red Spikers, 25-18, 25-22, 25-16, last August 17 at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
With the seniors out due to commitments to their club teams, sophomore spiker Trisha Genesis paced the Lady Falcons tallying 16 points, while former King’s Montessori School star Lucille May Almonte posted 11 points, 19 digs and six excellent receptions.
Rookie setter Louie Romero also showed prowess in orchestrating offense for the Lady Falcons, dishing out 23 excellent sets.
The Lady Falcons are also without head coach Rogelio “Onyok” Getigan. Assistant Coach Lerma Giron will take the helm of chief bench tactician until Getigan’s return.
The girls from San Marcelino will next face last year’s NCAA runners-up, the University of Perpetual Help Lady Atlas, on August 24 in the same venue.
