Adamson University added another name to its haul of published researchers as an alumnus of the BS Electrical Engineering program had his co-authored work included in the Science Citation Index Engineering Journal of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
Engr. Mark Tristan Angelo Cabatac, along with Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) Dean of Research and Development Prof.-Dr. Ying-Yi Hong, was cited by the said internationally-renowned journal through their research titled Fault Detection, Classification, and Location by Static Switch in Microgrids Using Wavelet Transform and Taguchi-based Artificial Neural Network in its July 2019 issue.
Engr. Cabatac is an alumnus of the BS in Electronics Engineering of Adamson and has a MS in Electrical Engineering from CYCU in Taiwan, where his co-author is a professor for its Department of Electrical Engineering.
ECE professor Dr. Angelo Beltran, Jr., lauded Engr. Cabatac’s feat, saying that such achievement will continue to put the university at par with international engineering schools when it comes to research.
“Once again, our students had prove that they can do research into the highest levels. Adamsonians can be paralleled to top Engineering scholars around the globe,” he said.
The study proposes a new method for detecting, classifying, and location of fault in a microgrid wherein artificial neural network and wavelet transform were applied in solving the problem.
