Adamsonian pride soared high as a co-authored study by an Electronics Engineering (ECE) alumnus was featured in one of the top engineering journals in the world.
Engr. Christian Lian Paulo Rioflorido’s research with the title A Hybrid Deep Learning-Based Neural Network for 24-H Ahead Wind Power Forecasting, which he co-wrote with Chung Yuan Christian University, Taiwan’s Prof.-Dr. Ying-Yi Hong, was recently published in the Applied Energy Journal, a peer-reviewed academic journal handled by Elsevier, a recognized top providers of the world’s scientific, technical and medical information and innovations.
The study proposes a novel method for predicting wind power generation using a hybrid deep learning neural network which has been the latest trending topic for computational intelligence.
“I hope that this modest work may continue to encourage Adamsonian students to pursue a career in research,” Engr. Rioflorido said.
Dr. Angelo A. Beltran Jr., a Professor from the Electronics Engineering Department expressed pride with another notable contribution by an Adamsonian to the research community.
"It is noteworthy that our students are doing research in the highest level, and are publishing research articles in a first-class engineering journal," he said.
Applied Energy has a CiteSector rating of 8.44, Impact factor of 7.90, and SCImago Journal Rank of 3.162, proving its worth as one of the top-tier scientific journals.
Engr. Rioflorido also holds an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Chung Yuan Christian University where his co-author was the Dean of Research and Development and a Distinguished Professor from the Department of Electrical Engineering.
Adamson University’s Electronics Engineering Department has obtained Level II accreditation from Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities-Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA), Center of Development (COD) accreditation from the Commission on Higher Education, and fully accredited by the Philippine Technological Council (PTC).
