Five dual degree students showcased Adamsonian excellence in an international mechatronics competition hosted by the Ministry of Education of Taiwan last May 23-25.
With their thesis titled EXOID: Design of Upper-limb Exoskeleton Suit for the Rehabilitation of Human Arm Functionality, the group of Michaelangelo Barroga, Enrique Miguel Gungon, Jaya Jane Gabutero, Randolf Matthew Lazaro and Rogelio Cartagena III took home third place of the Mechanical and Motorized Machinery category of the National Technical University Student Project Manufacturing Competition and Exhibit held at International Convention Center in Kaoshiung, Taiwan.
The group belongs to the dual degree Mechanical Engineering (M.E.), Major in Mechatronics program of AdU, in partnership with Minghsin Universiy of Science and Technology (MUST) in Taiwan.
A total of 69 projects were submitted under the Mechanical and Motorized Machinery category of the competition but only 6 were qualified, including the Adamsonian group’s project.
The competition was participated by 60 schools, amassing 1,418 projects in all categories.
AdU and MUST’s linkage was a product of a partnership program signed last 2013 that gave qualified M.E. students a chance to take part in a synchronized program that would run 11 semesters and two summer terms. The first batch of students who took the said program graduated last 2018.
