University President Fr. Marcelo V. Manimtim, C.M. encouraged the Adamson Community to assume an active role in this year’s general elections.

In a message released last April 29, Fr. Manimtim urged Adamsonians to be independent in choosing who they would vote, and be aware of issues affiliated with candidates, be it for national or local positions.

“I am calling on the Adamson University community to take an active part in the May 13 elections. Take a deliberative and critical stand on the candidates, particularly on the candidates for the Senate,” he said. “Look not so much on their party affiliation, their standing on the surveys or on the political machinery that support them. Investigate, rather, their advocacies that are supported by their accomplishments.”

Fr. Manimtim also singled out the university’s youth sector, saying they should be both well-informed and informative to their fellow youth as these elections could shape their future.

Faculties were also allowed to allocate a portion of their classes for election-related discussions.
