Adamson University third-year Communication students came home triumphant after winning the top prize in the 1st Ecovision Short Film Competition held at Ayala Mall The 30th last March 8, 2019. The contest had for its theme Green Solutions for Everyday Life at Home, School, or Office.
#CantYouSee, the title of the film, portrays the daily routine of a girl who is trying to change her ways to help the environment. The people behind this creation were Anne Christine Balce, Mark Daniel Caseserano, Carl Joshua Desales, Katrin Kate Isidro and Van Kaiser Manguera under the supervision of Ms. Angelique Mira Ticlao. "Tinapos lang namin siya ng dalawang araw kaya naniniwala ako kung para sa 'yo, sa 'yo talaga," (We finished it in just two days, that’s why I believe that if it’s for you, it’s for you), Desales stated.
Another Adamson entry, Metanoia, which is mainly about the viewpoint of a plastic bag, was also among the finalists. Charlene Jucom, Amynah Badawy, Sheenalyne Javier, Dan Marco Sta. Teresa and Korven Famadulan were the students responsible for making this film.
During the announcement of the winners, AdU's #CantYouSee was initially declared 1st Runner-up, with Midway College's (Nueva Ecija) Unfriend being proclaimed as champion. Unfriend, however, was later disqualified, due to plagiarism issues.
The happy ending resulted in Adamson University bagging the first place, Ateneo de Manila University 1st Runner-up and Polytechnic University of the Philippines 2nd Runner-up. The winners were awarded cash prizes and Epson printer products for their schools.
The Epson Film Competition was created in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB) and GREENducation Philippines, a youth-led group organized by DENR-EMB. The competition aims to raise awareness and understanding about environmental issues using the Public Service Announcement (PSA) as an effective platform. It is open to all students at any year level and degree or course from colleges and universities in the National Capital Region, Region II, and Region IV-A.
