Visual artist Reuben Abaya Pagaduan opened his one-man exhibit at the Adamson University Art Gallery last March 5, 2019. Titled Felt Realities, the exhibit unveiled the artist’s abstract works in mixed media that “firmly establishes his personal concepts and creative philosophies – his relentlessness and inventiveness in the visual arts – in composed and solitary pieces, as he restores positivity in our human condition,” as the exhibit notes stated.
Using discarded objects to express his ideas and convey his message, Pagaduan reincarnated materials in artworks that bore titles like Mending the Gaps, Crossroads and Truth of Inconsistency.
Dr. Flora Villa Marticio, former dean of the College of Art and Humanities of the Adventist University of the Philippines, gave an inspiring message about the importance of art that emanates from the Master Artist himself. Atty. Venicius Fule, former Assistant State Prosecutor and Mr. Jay Giovanna Baustista, an art writer, were the Guests of Honor.
Pagaduan used to be the chair of the Tradigital Arts department of the Adventist University of the Philippines and is still part of its faculty. He is also the country’s representative to the Global Artists Creative Collaboration for Empowerment, USA (GACCE).
The exhibit runs until March 31, 2019.
