Usually happening at the end of the Foundation Week, it has been an annual tradition in Adamson to give due recognition to employees who have served ten years or more in the university.

The 35th Institutional Awards and Recognition Ceremonies, also known as Araw ng Parangal, was held at the Adamson University Theater last February 22, 2019. A total of 73 awardees consisting of faculty, staff and administrators received certificates and plaques of recognition, cash, 18K gold rings and statues of St. Vincent de Paul. The awardees had been serving Adamson University for 10, 15, 20, 24, 30, 35, 40, 41 or 42 years. Eighteen recent retirees were also feted and awarded with plaques of recognition.

University president Fr. Marcelo V. Manimtim, CM mentioned that while some of his confreres “did not stick it out” with the congregation for one reason or another, he felt very much consoled that “some of you have stayed longer with us than some of them. Occasions like this Araw ng Parangal are good for us to recognize those who have stuck it out with us. Thank you that you are here still with us. We appreciate the reasons that you have for staying.” Fr. Manny added that “I’d like to say this to each and every awardee: You have made us very proud.”

Indeed he stressed that by staying and giving their best, the awardees have helped Adamson be what it is now. He attributed to them the accomplishments of the university, such as accreditation of programs, board and licensure performance of our graduates, the ISO accreditation and accomplishments of our athletes. He ended his address by saying “we thank you for your love and we hope we can return this love in many different ways.”

The program was enlivened by several musical intermission numbers rendered by the talented members of Himig – Musicians of Adamson University, a student organization. But what brought the house down were the beautifully choreographed dance performances and the musical impersonation cum lip-synch renditions of Freddie Mercury songs by the awardees. They proved to an admiring audience that work and fun can be seamlessly mixed.

The Institutional Awards ceremony was capped by an early dinner at the ST Quad.
