Serenata, an annual tradition in Adamson University that starts off the Christmas Season in the campus, was held in front of the SV building last November 29, 2018. The program lined up an array of musical numbers performed mostly by homegrown talents such as the AdU Brass Band, the Acoustic Band, the String Ensemble, the Adamson Chorale and the Band Majorettes. Guest artists included Sam Mangubat, Tawag ng Tanghalan runner-up; rising balladeer TJ Monterde; The Voice Teens finalist Jeremy Glinoga; and the band Mayonnaise.
Christmas music that included classical pieces, bouncy tunes, nostalgic melodies and pop songs filled the cold evening air. One highlight of the program was the symbolic lighting of the giant Christmas tree complete with a fascinating display of fireworks in the background.
Some of Adamson’s top administrators graced the occasion, notably Bro. Henry Escurel, CM, who is the current University treasurer, University Chaplain Fr. Agustin Advincula, CM, College of Science Dean Ma. Liria D. Dacanay, alumni association president Engr. Hubert Temprosa, AdU alumni and some office directors.
Since it came on the heels of the men’s basketball team’s heartbreaking loss in the UAAP Season 81 Final Four showdown with UP, the Serenata served as an apt occasion for Adamsonians to chill and soothe their hearts with music. The men’s basketball team, in one part of the program, was presented onstage to the community and were congratulated and acknowledged for all their hard work. The Adamson University Alumni Association, Inc., through its president Engr. Hubert Temprosa and Ms. Yasmin Nuño of Metro Stonerich Corp. each presented a token monetary gift to the members of the team. The AUAAI also gave each player a Certificate of Appreciation.
Every year, the Serenata has something new to offer. The Adamsonians’ love for music will ensure its continuing success in the coming years.
