Biology Research Group attends CEBREM conference

The Biology Research Group of the Biology Department of Adamson University attended a conference sponsored by the Center for Biodiversity Research and Extension in Mindanao (CEBREM) in Busuan, Bukidnon last November 14-17, 2018. The conference was held on the occasion of CEBREM’s 7th anniversary.
The group from Adamson was composed of Dr. Eleanor S. Austria, Gil Villancio, Aza Freya Tubato, Karen Lacap, Jette Soto, and Mikhail Sai.
Ms. Jette Soto presented her thesis titled Diversity and abundance of soil bacteria in the mining areas in Dinagat Islands, Philippines while Mr. Mikhail Sai talked about the Avian and mammalian fauna of Basilisa and Loreto, Province of Dinagat Islands, Philippines.
The paper titled Phytochemical Analysis, Antibacterial Activity and Cytotoxicity of the Leaf Extracts of Nepenthes alata (pitcher plant) authored by Aza Freya Lan A. Tubato, Honie Grace Estopel, Jacqueline Mabute, Karen Lacap, Mikhail Sai and Dr. Ramon Luber won as Best Scientific Paper during the conference.
